EXPLORE KITSILANO LIKE A LOCAL

EXPLORE KITS CULTURE AND COASTLINE

Experience Kitsilano's beachside energy, west coast vibes, scenic coastline, and lush tree-lined garden corridors, just minutes away from Downtown Vancouver.

Kitsilano, affectionately known as "Kits" by locals, is one of Vancouver's most scenic and vibrant neighbourhoods that stretches along the coastline just minutes away from Downtown.

It's full of garden lined streets, tree filled corridors, local lookouts, and beachside access points down to the ocean, where views span directly out into English Bay and across to the North Shore mountains.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Few neighbourhoods in Vancouver offer an experience like this, with sweeping views of English Bay, the North Shore mountains, and the Downtown Vancouver skyline, together with garden-lined greenways, and a deep connection to the surrounding coastline.

It's an invitation to embrace the free spirited energy of the neighbourhood, to be soothed by the ebb and flow of the waves rolling over the coastline, to appreciate the smell of gardens in bloom, and enjoy the taste of some of the best artisanal coffee in Vancouver.

As your guide, I know this neighbourhood well, and every walk is planned around the best routes, shaded greenways, scenic lookouts, and the season, so you can move at a gentle pace, take in the views, and tap into the energy of the area.

Every Kitsilano guided tour is unique and shaped by the tide, the season, the wildlife we encouter and the evolving neighbourhood.

WHERE WE MEET

We meet at Kitsilano Beach Park (in Vancouver, BC), gathered under a circle of trees just a short walk down the path from the Yew Street and Cornwall Avenue entrance.

Look for a circle of blankets laid out on the grass between the trees, that's us.

This meeting point provides convenient access to washrooms, transit, bike share stations, and parking. We start each walk gathered under the tree canopy, which provides plenty of shade on warm days and creates a refreshing place to gather before heading out to explore Kitsilano.

Please arrive a few minutes early.

GETTING HERE

Kitsilano Beach sits about 3 km west of Downtown Vancouver, just past the bend where False Creek meets English Bay, along the same scenic seawall route that runs past Stanley Park, False Creek, Olympic Village, and Granville Island, before continuing on to Kitsilano.

It's an easy trip by bike, bus, or car, and pairs well with cycling the seawall or a visit to Granville Island.

    • Take the False Creek Ferry from any of their docks along the Seawall to the Maritime Museum - Kitsilano Beach Dock.
  • Bike: About 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver via the seawall, or 15 minutes from Granville Island.
    • Take the Burrard Bridge, or the Aquabus for a shortcut across English Bay.
    • Mobi Bike Share stations are available along the route, with drop-off points at Jericho Beach and Spanish Banks.
  • Bus: About 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver or 15 minutes from Granville Island.
    • Use Kisilano Beach Park, Vancouver, BC, Canada as your "To Destination" on Google or Apple Maps.
  • Car or rideshare: About 15 minutes from Downtown Vancouver, or 5 minutes from Granville Island.
    • Ask your driver to drop you at Kits Beach Park, at the parking lot on the corner of Arbutus Street and Cornwall Avenue, then walk toward the Cornwall Avenue and Yew Street intersection, where you'll find us under a circle of trees.
